Biography

Kyle Phillips joined the KML team in March 2024 as a Biological Scientist and IACUC/Permit Coordinator. He recently earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Marine Biology from Northeastern University in Boston, where his master’s research focused on the investigation of novel biodegradable and renewable materials used in coral restoration and was completed at the Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS). He was a student of Northeastern University’s Three Seas Program, cohort 42, which allowed him to study and scientifically dive in various coastal marine environments around North and Central America. Additionally, he completed a co-op as a marine research technician in a coastal ecology lab at Northeastern’s Marine Science Center, wading through the salt marshes of New England. Kyle has volunteered caring for stranded seal pups with the National Marine Life Center in the Cape, and also at a local dive shop in Boston. He is a PADI Advanced Open Water and AAUS Scientific Diver, and enjoys field work both on and in the water. Fun Facts: Kyle is a USMC veteran and has snorkeled with humpback whales while conducting field work on the Great Barrier Reef!
